Red Tape Committee
Compliance and regulation is an important and necessary role of government however it shouldn’t inhibit businesses and individuals.
The Select Committee on Red Tape has been established to analyse and assess the different restrictions and prohibitions on business and determine whether improvements can be made to leverage greater efficiency.
In doing so, the Committee will consider areas of red tape that are particularly burdensome, complex, redundant or duplicated across jurisdictions, and the impact on health, safety and economic opportunity. In an increasingly global marketplace, we must also consider how red tape impacts on the ability of Australian businesses to compete internationally. Governments have an important role to play in regulating industry however, in doing so, we must consider how this can be done in a way which maximises Australia’s economic interests.
